It's not how she looks

Hi Reader,

Last week I told you about my mum , and the "good genes" assumption that almost everyone makes when they see her.

A lot of you wrote back. Thank you, it clearly struck a chord.

But I want to tell you the thing that actually impresses me most about her. Because every time I share her photo, the comments focus on how she looks. And yes, she looks wonderful. But that's not what impresses me most!

It's that she jumped on the back of my son's electric bike and rode around the block with him. That she was the first one on the biggest water slides when we were in Bali. That she dances to music videos in the living room at any given opportunity.

That's vitality. Energy. A mindset that genuinely hasn't aged.

And it's the thing that no filter, no diet, no protocol, and no supplement or skincare can manufacture.

It comes from decades of simple, consistent choices. Real food cooked at home. Good sleep. An active social life. Movement that's just part of how she lives. A low toxic load. A nervous system that isn't chronically overwhelmed. She has always worked hard, but she has always lived simply.

This is what an anti-inflammatory life actually looks like at 81. Not a perfect body, a full one. Energy, curiosity, joy, presence, and the physical capacity to show up for the people she loves.

Chronic inflammation sits at the centre of so much of how we age and how we feel. The fatigue that won't lift. The brain fog. The aches that have become background noise. The mood that dips for no obvious reason. A growing list of health concerns. These aren't inevitable, they're often signs of an inflammatory load that's been quietly building for years.

The good news is that food, simple low tox choices, and stress management are the most powerful levers you have. Not in a restrictive, complicated way, in the way my mum has always done it. Real ingredients cooked at home, natural personal care and household products, good rhythms, and a nervous system that isn't running on empty. These are the foundations the Inflammation Reset is built on, and they're the same foundations my mum has quietly lived by for decades.

If you haven't taken the free Inflammation Quiz yet, it's a genuinely useful five minutes. It helps you understand where your own inflammatory load sits and where to focus first.

And if you're ready to put a proper system around it, the Inflammation Reset inside the Well Nourished membership is exactly that, practical, naturopath-designed, and built around real food and real life rather than complicated protocols.

For three months of full access, including the Inflammation Reset, it's $90. No lock-in contract, and you can cancel anytime from your accounts tab with one click.

RECIPES | WELLNESS HUB | HEALTHY KIDS | SHOP Hi Reader, There is no quick fix for how you're feeling right now. Not the elimination diet, not the gut protocol, not the liver cleanse, not the supplement stack that promises complete resolution in a week. I know that's not what you want to hear. But after nearly 30 years as a Naturopath, I'd be doing you a disservice if I pretended otherwise. The wellness industry is very good at making complexity feel solvable in one purchase. Pick a protocol,...

No jarred sauce, no additives, no ingredients you'd need to google. Just a homemade teriyaki that takes minutes to put together and tastes far better than anything in a bottle. This recipe is a good...

RECIPES | WELLNESS HUB | HEALTHY KIDS | SHOP Hi Reader, A few weeks ago I went into a supermarket for the first time in a long time. I went in to film some content for a shopping series I've been running on social media, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much beyond a bit of background footage. But I hadn't actually walked the aisles in well over six months, and what I found when I did genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Even in the fresh fruit and vegetable section, the amount of processed...
